Bridal Headbands, Fascinators and Headpieces

Melanie and Lara recently enjoyed a day trip up to London for Brides The Show, while at there they saw some really great hair pieces which have been all the range at the beach this season – perfect for that boho beachy vibe, but with a touch of sparkle if desired, we love them!

Some of our very own brides have been embracing the hair piece and adding their very own individual touches, Natalie and Alex below wore a truly beach inspired birdcage vail:

One of our favourite stands at Brides The Show was Gillian Million – beautiful headpieces in a variety of styles to suit every bride.

If you want an alternative to a full veil why not try a headpiece?

Gorgeous Gowns

Here at Beach Weddings Bournemouth so far we have had a fantastic season (and very busy season as you can see from our complete lack of blogging – we promise to make up for this over the next few months!) We have had our fair share of beautiful brides walk down the aisle and we thought we would share some of their gorgeous gowns with you

2012 – This was our year!

2012 has been hugely exciting for us, marking the first season of Beach Weddings Bournemouth. It has been a tremendous year with lots of beautiful weddings and lots of wonderful couples  and their families. Being the one and only place in England and Wales that you can legally get married on the beach, we have thoroughly enjoyed getting this unique venue off to a fabulous start.  Its been hard work but we have loved every minute of it!

The year got off to a start with Melanie meeting Michael Underwood down on the beach to film the VT for the launch of the Daybreak competition, ‘Here comes the tide’ to win the first ever Beach Weddings Bournemouth wedding. Viewers were invited to enter the competition with the production team then shortlisting it to a final three couples. Viewers then voted for their favourite couple to win the competition.

Melanie with Michael Underwood

Frazer and Kate were announced as the winning couple and on Friday 27th April we had our first ever Beach Weddings Bournemouth wedding! No pressure with all the TV cameras, press and the hundreds of thousands of people watching at home! Our first wedding was a huge success and even the weather stayed clear for us! Congratulations Frazer and Kate.

The Daybreak wedding as it has become known was followed by an open weekend on the Saturday and Sunday to welcome all of our couples that had booked and were looking to book for the summer to come and view the venue as it was only the second time it has all been put together. All I can say is we were over whelmed by their reactions when they walked in with everyone commenting on how beautiful it all looked!

This weekend was also host to our first Baby Naming ceremony. This was a very special day, a fantastic alternative to a christening in a stunning setting. It was extra special as it was a double naming ceremony for Evie and Sebastian. Afterwards guests were treated to a champagne reception and canapes. If you would like more information about Baby naming ceremonies at Beach Weddings Bournemouth then please contact us on 01202 788271.

Each and every wedding has been truly unique and amazing to be a part of so here are some more photos of our couples from our first season. (Please forgive us for some of our amateur photography below- unfortunately we don’t have professional photos of all our couples!)

Clive and Juli were our first couple to have a vow renewal with us on the Beach. It was a little chilly on the day but it still a wonderful day enjoyed by all. The guests had Champagne afternoon tea following the ceremony and the children all enjoyed a tea party on the decking. Diana Saxby conducted a very personal and emotional ceremony which she had written just for them. If you are interested in having a vow renewal with us at Beach Weddings Bournemouth. Congratulations to all of the couples who got married with us this year- it was an absolute honour to be a part of each and every couple’s wedding. We had such fun at every wedding! Also congratulations to Gemma and James, Sean and Ruth, Michael and Susan,  Martin and Susan and Louise and Richard who also got married with us this year but unfortunately we don’t have any photos of your weddings! Congratulations to Jon and Claire too who renewed their vows with us over the summer. Best wishes to you all for the future- keep in touch!

The icing on the cake for us this season was being shortlisted as a finalist for the Tourism Award at the Dorset Business Awards. The award recognises success and contribution to the tourism industry in Bournemouth. Unfortunately we didn’t win but after only one season we were very proud to get as far as we did and to have our achievements recognised. It was a huge pat on the back for us and we couldn’t be more pleased!

A huge thank you to Ian Hamilton who started the season with us for the wedding of Kate and Frazer and ended it with the wedding of Kate and Tim – such a pleasure to work with you so often this season.

With our first season over, we can’t wait for the second now which starts in April. The first season just flew by and we’re really missing being down on the beach! We’re now busy eagerly planning the Beach Weddings for next season- lots of exciting weddings coming up to share with you all!

Time to pick THE dress!

Its the part of the day which no matter how many weddings we have worked on in the past, the Beach Weddings Bournemouth crew still get really excited about! The Brides Wedding Dress. OK so yes, we have seen quite a few Wedding Dresses by now but the anticipation and then the moment of actually seeing the Bride in her dress gets us every time! Hearing the gasps and the ‘wow’s from the guests and the Groom as the Bride walks down the aisle is always a very special moment.

Beach Weddings remain romantic and atmospheric yet bring a more relaxed feeling for both the couple and their guests, allowing everyone to enjoy a day full of laughter and happiness. Therefore many couples wish for their wedding attire to be less formal to reflect the atmosphere of their special day.

There is a huge choice available for Brides today meaning there is something to suit every Brides style and taste. Whilst some dream of a fairy tale big white dress, others of you may prefer something a little simpler. Although at Beach Weddings Bournemouth we provide a coconut matting aisle to keep your dress off the sand, a simpler or shorter design may be more fitting, allowing you to dip your toes in the sea on your big day!

There are no set rules for a Beach Wedding dress and it is much down to personal taste, however a Beach Wedding does allow for more experimenting in length, colour and style. Lighter fabrics can be more suitable for Beach Wedding dresses, but be careful of combining lighter fabrics with shorter style dresses- you don’t want your dress to blow up in a gust of sea air! A Beach Wedding is also the perfect setting with a more relaxed atmosphere if you wish to be bolder with the colour of your gown.  If you’re not feeling quite this brave but still want to wear something more unique or fun, experimenting with the colours and prints of accessories may be the way to go. One of our Brides chose fabulous shoes with an ice cream print on them- really fitting and fun yet very stylish and a lovely memento from the day. More on ideas for accessories to come in a later blog entry!

Most of our Brides so far have chosen simpler yet stunning designs, proving the point that sometimes less is in fact more, whilst others have stuck to more traditional gowns, demonstrating that you an still wear the fairy-tale traditional white dress when getting married on the beach and it doesn’t look out of place.

Have a look at a few ideas for beach wedding dresses below which we think are all very romantic and enchanting yet relaxed and perfect for the Beach!

Firstly a few ideas for those who would still like to wear a full length gown or something which still has an air of a traditional white gown

We love this Grecian style one shoulder dress its very romantic and floaty and fits perfectly with the beach setting.

Stunning. The shoulder ruffles look a little like flowers to us, giving the dress a real tropical Hawaiian feel.

A style that some may regard as a more traditional gown but equally as perfect for a Beach Wedding.

The beauty of this dress is in it’s simplicity. Sometimes simple gowns can be equally if not more striking than more complicated designs.

We think this dress wouldn’t look out of place at a summer garden party, so if you’re opting for a vintage feel to your day with our Afternoon Tea menu option, this dress could be perfect for you. The pleating is simply stunning, making the dress very feminine and dreamy.

A few ideas for those of you who would prefer a shorter style

This 1950’s Prom Dress style Gown is prefect for a paddle in the waters after the ceremony- would make for some amazing photos!

This shorter style Gown from Monsoon retains romance and beauty with the lace overlay and diamante detailing around the neckline.

We think this tunic is perfect for Beach Weddings- the embroidery and chiffon sleeves makes this dress very elegant and enchanting.

And for those of you feeling a little braver and really wanting to embrace the location in the theme of your day…..

This nautical style prom dress is great fun and very in-keeping but feminine and would still make you feel like a princess for the day!

This Chanel dress is just amazing and a real show-stopper! OK so it’s a far cry from the traditional white gown, but why not? It has the ‘wow factor’ but is fun and relaxed, just how your day should be. The point is, it’s your day so you should wear what you want to wear!

Don’t forget to pay a visit to some of our local wedding dress boutique friends who will be sure to help and advise you on the best dress to pick for your wedding:

Michelle and her team over at Bliss Bridal Christchurch

Natalie at her stunning boutique on the Lymington Quay – Exquisite Bridal

Tracie and her team at Fab Frocks of Westbourne

We can’t wait to see what you pick!
